Naomi Barlow - violin, viola

Born in the United States, she began the study of the viola at the age of ten. A graduate of the Oberlin Conservatory (Ohio), she participated in the prestigious summer Festivals of Aspen (Colorado) and Taos (New Mexico) studying chamber music with the "American" and "New Hungarian" Quartets.  After having worked in the Symphonic Orchestra of Caracas (Venezuela) she won the Van Karajan Stiftung scholarship that  allowed her to study under the guide of Giusto Cappone and the Berlin Philharmonic with which she subsequently collaborated as well as with the Deutsche Oper.
In 1986 she moved to Italy, devoting herself to chamber music and teaching, collaborating with the orchestra of the National Academy of S. Cecilia in Rome. Currently she teaches violin and viola at the Comunal School of Viterbo and is cofounder of the Experimental Center.

Katia Catarci - arpa

 

Katia Catarci obtained her diploma “cum laude” at the Conservatorio  “S. Cecilia" in Rome as a student of O. Guglielmi.

She has played with the Orchestra Giovanile del Conservatorio "S. Cecilia", at the Teatro di Reggio Emilia, the Teatro Verdi di Salerno and with the Orchestra ``Rome Ensemble" as a soloist.

Contemporarily she has continued to study the harp “a livelle” as well as jazz and Parguayan Harp broadening her repertoire to include celtic, latin american and baroque music. She has a degree in chamber music from the Superior Course of the Conservatorio di S. Cecilia in Rome and her chamber music experience has taken her on tour to Luxembourg, Paris, Tirana, and Berne.

She won the First Prize at the Competition Concorso Internazionale Città di Teramo, the Second Prize at the Concorso AMA Calabria for Contemporary Music, and overall First Prize at the International Music Competition "Città di Ortona".

 For many years she has alternated her concert career with pedagogical activities demonstrating an aptitude for working with young children, obtaining teacher certification in Suzuki Harp Pedagogy at the Istituto Suzuki Italiano in Turin and in Children's Music Laboratory in Rome.

Fabio Esta - piano, solfège

Born in Rome in 1962, he obtained his diploma in  music from the  Music Conservatory of Frosinone as a piano student of M° Eugenio Brand. Following his graduation, he continued his piano studies with M° Valerian Voskoboijnikov in Rome. He has taught music education at the Vincenzo Bellini Middle School in Rome since 1983. He is a  winner of the competition of the Italian National Dance Academy as a pianist improviser. He has performed as a soloist and in  duo with various instruments for important musical associations. He teaches at his private studio and with the Center for Experimental Music for Children.

Yurika Ishikawa - piano, children's music laboratory

Born in Tokyo in 1969 she began to study the  piano at the age of four. From 1988 to 1992 she attended the “Tokyo College of Music" where she studied piano with M° Ofiko Nan, voice with M° Kimiko Aruga and music  pedagogy. During her studies she taught piano to children in a private music school and accompanied student pianists in concert. She graduated in 1992. She was a participant in the concert for graduates obtaining the highest marks as a lyric soprano. Successively, she performed in various roles in five different operas.  From 1992 to 1995 she studied voice with M° Michiko Hirayama , from '95 to '98 she continued her studies with M° Giulietta Simionato and from '98 to '99 with M° Antonietta Star. In May 1997 she participated in a concert of Verdi's music at the "Casa di Verdi" in Milan. In 2004 she began her study of the Suzuki Method for piano with M° Lola Tavor and Children's Music Laboratory with M° Elena Enrico.

Luigi Laterza - piano

Luigi Laterza born in Rome in 1962, studied piano with the  M° R. Caporali and Vera Gobbi Belcredi  graduating brilliantly at the Conservatory “S. Cecilia” of Rome. He studied composition with Teresa Procaccini.  He participated in the post-graduate courses of M° Bordoni in Assisi, Rosen at Sermoneta and Bogino at Dubrovnik. He continued his studies with H. Pell.  He has performed as a piano soloist with orchestra as well as on the harpsichordist, and as a chamber musician in many concert halls and Italian festivals.  He has made many concert tours: in Spain, performing in the XV° series of chamber music concerts at the National Auditorium of Madrid and in many other centers, (Avila, Soria, Albacete, Ciudad Real etc.), in Belgium (Brussels), in Albania (Tirana,  also on the occasion of the ceremony for the celebration of the 40 years of the signature of the Treaty of the Elsèe.  He has recorded for EMI and for the I° chanel of the Spanish National Radio.  From 1986 ha has been a professor of piano at the Communal Music School of Viterbo and since 2005 he has collaborated with  CeSMI as a piano teacher and he has also composed numerous arrangements for the Youth Orchestra.

Serena Laterza - flute, recorder, rhythmic studies, solfège chamber music

Serena Laterza studied the flute with Mario Ancilotti and Angelo Persichilli at the Conservatory of Santa Cecilia in Rome where she obtained her degree in 1986. She participated in summer courses with Angelo Persichilli, Trevor Wye, Konrad Klemm and Marzio Conti at the Accademia Musicale Pescarese.
She has performed in numerous concerts as a soloist, in duo with piano, with guitar, string quartet, and in several different chamber formations. She has collaborated with symphonic (Accademia di Santa Cecilia di Roma) and opera orchestras and has made recordings for the National Broadcasting Company (RAI) and EMI.
She successively became interested in  musical pedagogy, attending the courses of methodology and practice of the Orff-Schulwork method taught by Giovanni Piazza and Ciro Padovano at the Donna Olimpia Music School in Rome and the Kodaly Course at the Summer University of Esztergom, Hungary.
Since1988 she has collaborated as a teacher of music theory and solfège at the Scuola Comunale Musicale in Viterbo. She is an associate founder of the CeSMI where she teaches flute, recorder, rhythmic studies for children , solfège and chamber music.

Christine Lundquist – Children's choir, Children's Music Laboratory, Music Lullaby

Born in the United States, she graduated from the  California State University, Los Angeles where she studied voice and child development. She was a member of the San Francisco Opera Choir and has sung principal roles (Cherubini in the Marriage of Figaro of Mozart, in L’enfant et les Sortileges of Ravel, the Queen of the Night in Mozart's Magic Flute) with various American opera companies.  She did post-graduate vocal studies at the San Francisco Conservatory with Elisabeth Parham.
In 1992 she had a role in the film ‘In the Shadow of the Stars’, that won  the Best Documentary prize at the Academy Awards.
In 1993 she recorded for the sound track of the film Mad Women singing Morgen by Strauss, that won an Emmy Award
Successively she moved to Europe, where she studied voice with Patricia Goerl, (Munich, Germany) and Felice Schiavi (Milano). She performs actively as a chamber musician in Duo with guitar, and with the Microkosmos Ensemble with which she participated in numerous tours in Italy and abroad (Korea, Russia, United States, Edinburgh Festival 2001).  She has made numerous recordings for the radio and for recording studios.
Recently she has become involved in musical pedagogy for children,
completing the certification in Children's Music Laboratory with M° Elena Enrico.  She teaches Children's Music Laboratory, Music Lullaby and choir at the Experimental Center.

Stefano Silvi – piano, orchestra, children's choir, youth choir

Born in 1969, he graduated in piano with Luciana Ricotti at the Conservatorio "F. Morlacchi" in Perugia. In 1996 ha obtained the Diploma of Professional Qualification for Choir Directors, given by the European Community, Tuscan Region studying with Diego Fasolis, René Clemencic, Gary Graden, Francesco Luisi, Romano Pezzati, Marco Balderi, Piergiorgio Righele.
In 1997 he obtained a degree in Languages and Modern Foreign Literature at the "Università degli Studi della Tuscia" in Viterbo presenting a thesis in Music History under the guide of Prof. Franco Carlo Ricci.
In 2006 he attended at the Fondazione Guido d’Arezzo a course for a Master in Direction and Interpretation of Choral Music held by Roberto Gabbiani, Peter Neumann, Ottavio Dantone, Carl Høgset, Gary Graden, Philip White, Francesco Luisi, and Rinaldo Alessandrini.
He has followed courses and seminars held by Gary Graden, Alfredo Grandini, David James, Carl Høgset, Francesco Luisi, Salvatore Sciarrino.
In 1988 he  founded and directed the Polifonic Choir of SS. Salvatore di Bolsena (VT); he has been director of the Choir of the "Istituto Tecnico “P. Savi” in Viterbo, and of the Choir of the Middle School “L. Fantappiè” in Viterbo.
In 1998 he won the I° prize at the Musicology Competition “Silvestro Sasso” which took place in Bari. 
He is archivist in the Music History Department at the "Università degli Studi della Tuscia" in Viterbo, collaborates with the Fondazione Guido d’Arezzo in the organization of the International Polifonic Competition “Guido d’Arezzo”, teaches Piano at the Centro Sperimentale per l’Infanzia in Viterbo and at the Scuola Comunale di Musica "Andrea Adami" in Bolsena.
As a choir conductor, he has given concerts for important institutions in Italy( Festival of Two Worlds in Spoleto, Fondazione G.P. in Palestrina, the University of Rome “La Sapienza”, Comune di Roma, Università di Bari, Università di Camerino, Università di Firenze, Associazione Regionale Cori del Lazio, Associazione Regionale Cori dell’Umbria) and in Germany, France, Czech Republic (University di Brno) and in Switzerland (Palace of the Nations, Geneva).
He is the conductor of the Choir of the "Università della Tuscia of Viterbo, the Children's Choir , the Youth Orchestra and the Youth Choir of the Experimental Center.  He is a member of the directive council of the Regional Association of Choirs of Lazio (A.R.C.L).

Ann Stupay - violin

Ann Stupay began her musical studies in Cleveland, Ohio (USA) as a student of Nathan Snader (Cleveland Orchestra) and Linda Cerone (Cleveland Institute of Music, Meadowmount School of Music).  She obtained her Bachelor of Music cum laude at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan in the class of Paul Makanowitzky and Ruggiero Ricci.

Successively she came to Europe, as a member of the Orchestra of the Spoleto Festival (Spoleto, Italy) and has remained in Rome, Italy where she is a member of the first violin section of the Orchestra of the Rome Opera Theater. She has been a member of the International Chamber Ensemble, with which she has participated in numerous concert tours and recordings.

Her interest in musical pedagogy  and specifically the Suzuki Method has brought her to follow Suzuki Teacher Training for Violin in the United States (Chicago and Cleveland) and in Violin and Children’s Music Laboratory at the Istituto Suzuki Italiano in Turin, Italy where she received her Suzuki teacer certification (ESA). In 2004 she founded the new branch of the CeSMI in Rome where she is director.
